Hello, my name is Kori Adams and I feel incredibly blessed to be a member of the "Best Middle School in the Land" - Buford Middle School! I'm not a stranger to the career, for the 2020-2021 school term marks my 26th year in education.
My philosophy of education is quite simple and it parallels the beliefs of BMS beautifully ... "Failure is simply NOT an option"! As a devoted educator, I firmly believe in fostering meaningful relationships with my students by encouraging and inviting them to actively participate in challenging learning experiences. By doing so, it is my goal that students begin to take initiative and ownership in their own learning. For students to be able to make sense of mathematics, they must first understand how it all fits together. I believe this complete understanding is achieved by meshing the "whys" of math along with the "hows".
I received my initial teaching certificate from Kennesaw State University in 1995. A few years later, in 2002, I completed my Masters Degree from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Currently, I hold a Specialist Degree in education from Piedmont College where I graduated in 2010. Although each school year is quite memorable and very rewarding, one of the highlights of my career thus far, was being named "Teacher of the Year" by my colleagues at Central Franklin Elementary School, in Franklin County, Georgia in 2008.
When not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband Paul, our children, Lexi and Becca Paige, and our dogs, Wyatt and Doc. My hobbies include working out, golfing, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends. My family and I are blessed to call SugarHill Church our home. God is so good ... all the time!! :-)
